    During the last decade, Kyambogo University has significantly improved its infrastructure, and currently working hard to change its internal processes to make it a world class University. The University has reviewed its governance structure and increased its focus on research by devoting more funds to research and building research capacity of its staff. In improving its first focus area (Teaching and Learning), one area that has engaged the attention of Management is the recruitment and promotion of quality Academic Staff from the lowest position to Professor. “The quality of Academic staff is key to the quality of a University ...Universities are supposed to be centres of research, academic excellence, scholarship, knowledge generation and publications. Institutional auditors shall assess the quality of research and knowledge creation of a given Institution” (NCHE Quality Assurance Framework for Universities, 2014, p16-17).

    Approved framework for appointment of teaching staff after retirement

    Approved Medical Insurance Scheme for Staff of Kyambogo University

    The University has a Medical Centre which provides health services to both staff and students. It also provides referrals to both staff and students to other designated health facilities on cases which cannot be provided for at the Centre.

In light of the above, the university formulated this policy on information, Communication and technology that provides an agenda, and the framework/guidelines for mainstreaming and integrating ICT service at every sector of the University. It further provides for establishing strategic ICT infrastructure and its utilization for both academic and administrative business process improvement.

    Kyambogo University Financial Management Manual 2014 as Amended 2021

    Management of finances and other resources is fundamental to the success of teaching and research programs in Kyambogo University. The approval of this Policy Manual by the University Council is, therefore, a central step towards good financial management and the achievement of the above core programs. Kyambogo University will continue to make use of the available financial and other resources, to take lead into innovative teaching and research that has historically enabled our graduates excel at employers' premises.This financial management manual will, therefore, be instrumental in guiding the University Council, Management, staff and the Guild to manage programs and projects aimed at developing Kyambogo University. It provides for the roles, mandate and responsibilities of the various University organs and stakeholders in the various financial management functions. Efficient management of those functions will be a key input into the modeling of the kind of graduate desired by the labor, production and entrepreneurship world. I wish to congratulate the University Council, Management, Staff and Students for the effort in the production of this very important policy. I wish to encourage all the University stakeholders to read, uphold, protect, implement and comply with this Policy Manual in order to strengthen financial management system in the University.

    Research and Innovations Policy

In light of the above, the University formulated this policy on Research and Innovations that provides an agenda, and the framework/guidelines for research at every sector of the University. It further provides for the implementation plan with the hope of creating an enabling environment for research and innovations to flourish. The overall expectation is enhanced research and Innovations visibility at the University.

    Rules of Procedure for Kyambogo University Council

    Kyambogo University is a Public University established in 2003 by the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001, as amended in 2003 and 2006. It was specifically established under Statutory Instrument, Number 37 of 2003. Kyambogo University is a body corporate that arose out of the merger of the Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo (ITEK), the Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo, (UPK) and the Uganda National Institute of Special Education (UNISE). Section 38 of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001 (as amended), creates a University Council. Section 40 (1) makes the University Council the supreme organ of the Public University and as such responsible for the overall administration of the objects and functions of the University. In addition, section 72 empowers the University Council to make statutes consistent with the Act to govern its membership, functions, privileges and procedures. This Charter therefore sets out the standard, procedures and guidelines under which the University Council and its Committees shall perform their duties. The Kyambogo University Council Charter is established to guide the conduct of activities in the Council so that the University’s operations can be managed sensitively and responsibly, whilst giving due consideration to its impact on the environment and society; balancing growth with sustainability. The Charter repeals the Kyambogo University Council Guidelines 2011.
