dc.description.abstractThis study investigated the role of School Boards of Governors in forestalling students' strikes in government comment secondary schools in Wakiso District. Specifically the Study focused on the relationship between the strategic leadership of School Boards of Governors and students' strike, the relationship between effective financial stewardship by the School Boards of Governor and students' strike, the relationship between policy making and implementation by the School Boards of Governors and students' and strike in government secondary schools and the relationship between effective engagement of key stakeholders by the of the school Boards of Governors and students' strike in government secondary schools in Wakiso district. The study employed an explanatory research design that used a mixed method to collect both quantitative and qualitative data. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. Findings of the -study revealed that: l) Strategic leadership of School Boards of Governors was found to have genitive but moderate statistical significant relationship on students' strikes, 2) Providing effective financial stewardship by the School Boards of Governors was found to be having Positive but weak statistical significant relationship on students' strikes, 3) Policy making and .implementation had positive but moderate statistical significant relationship on students' strikes, (4)Engagement of key stakeholders of the schools by the School Boards of Governors had positive but low statistical significant relationship with students ' strikes. Basing on the above findings, the study recommends that: a) Government of Uganda need to continue investing in building leadership capacities of the School Boards of Governors in handling students' strikes in secondary schools in the district, b) Government need to invest more on building capacities of the School Boards of Governors on financial stewardship as a way of improving the development of secondary schools and particularly effectively handling students' strikes in the district, c) Government need to scale up investment in policy making, implementation, monitoring and evaluation as a strategy of handling students' strikes, d) Government need to scale up effective engagement of key stakeholders of schools as a means of promoting sustainable development of education in the communities. The study recommends future studies to focus on students' strikes in private secondary schools, Universities and Colleges. Furthermore, the role of the school managers and parents in forestalling students' strikes in secondary schools also need to be investigated.en_US
