Teachers' Leadership Roles and Students' Discipline in Secondary Schools in Kabarole District: A Case of fort-portal municipality
Abstract
The study sought to investigate the influence of teachers' leadership roles and students' discipline in secondary schools in Kabarole district, Fort/Portal Municipality. The main objectives of the study were to; determine the extent of the teachers' leadership role in maintaining student's discipline and establish whether there is a relationship between teachers' leadership role and students' discipline. The study employed quantitative and qualitative approaches. The study sample comprised of 114 teachers, 17 Head-teachers, 128
Students making a total 259 respondents. The study showed that, teachers' leadership roles maintain students' discipline. The study also found out there is a positive significant relationship between teachers' leadership roles and students' discipline. The study made conclusions that the way teachers taught and presented themselves before their students helped to shape students discipline in class and school at large. The study made recommendations that teachers should use appropriate methods of teaching so as to ensure class control and positive student discipline.
