dc.description.abstractThe current study aimed at assessing the motivation strategies and Teacher performance in government aided schools in Sironko district. The study specifically identified the effect of intrinsic motivation strategies on Teacher performance in Government Aided Secondary Schools in Sironko District, explored the effect of extrinsic motivation strategies on Teacher performance in Government Aided Secondary School in Sironko District and also established the level of teachers' performance in Government Aided Secondary Schools in Sironko District. The study adopted a descriptive research design and data was collected using questionnaires, interview and document analysis from a total of one hundred (I 00) respondents who included (90) teachers (9) head teachers and (I) district education officer. Data collected was analyzed by use of Statistical Package of Social Scientist (SPSS) and presented in tables and figures for interpretation. Person correlation co efficiency and regression analysis were used to determine the relationships between the variables. Generally, findings revealed that good working conditions instill high level of commitment to staff. The study also found out that salary increment, PTA and transport allowances, provision of accommodation medical care and other fringe benefits enhance teacher performance. However, there was low level of performance amongst teachers as manifested in form of low commitment and interest to attend to some of student's needs, late coming and failure to make lesson plans. The study recommended that the Ministry of Education and Sports (Mo ES) and administrators should improve the motivation strategies so as to enhance teachers-, performance in Sironko district.en_US
