Farmer groups' readiness and adoption of traceability systems in agricultural supply chains : a case of Kaabong district.Kyambogo University(Unpublished work)https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12504/3038xiii, 78 p.The study examined the relationship between farmer group readiness and traceability system adoption in Uganda with focus on; examining the relationship between member readiness and adoption of traceability systems in agricultural supply chains, analysing the relationship between organizational readiness and the adoption of traceability systems in agricultural supply chains and examining the relationship between management readiness and the adoption of traceability systems in agricultural supply chains. A cross-sectional survey design with a quantitative approach was used. The data was collected from a knowledgeable individual representing the farmer group's operations using structured questionnaires. The study population consisted of 300 registered farmer groups under the WFP's Agricultural and Market Support project. Using Krejcie and Morgan's (1970) table, a sample size of 169 farmer groups was determined, and simple random sampling was used for selection. The results showed a very high positive relationship (r = 0.872) between management readiness and the adoption of traceability systems and was significant (p=0.000). There was also a moderate positive significant relationship (r = 0.553) between organizational readiness and the adoption of traceability systems and was significant (p=0.000). Lastly, there was a high positive significant relationship (r = 0.73 l between member readiness and the adoption of traceability systems and was significant (p=0.000). The regression model (R2 = 0.744) indicated that 74.4% of the variation in adoption could be explained by these predictors member, organisational, and management readiness. Management readiness emerged as the strongest predictor (~ = 0.494, p < 0.05), then member readiness (~= 0.086, p = 0.082) and organisational readiness CP = -0.075, p = 0.024). It is thus concluded that internal organizational factors are very critical enablers to traceability systems adoption adoption.
